Work From Home Ergonomic Exposures & Strategies

A new norm of business is upon us. Work From Home (WFH) employees.

To ensure employers (and employees) are prepared for this new type of employment, ESM has developed a framework from which to manage these new risks.

Cal-OSHA’s Title 8 CCR 5110, Repetitive Motion Injuries, requires employers to comply with three key components:

  1. Workstation evaluations. Employee’s homes are not considered worksites and therefore virtual evaluations should be considered to ensure a safe work environment..

  2. Control of Repetitive Motion Injury (RMI) exposures. This can be accomplished using ergonomic checklists as provided below.

  3. Training. Employers must provide training on their ergonomic program, exposures to RMIs, symptoms and consequences of RMIs as well as methods used to minimize RMIs

To assist with managing this compliance requirement, the following tools and best practices can be utilized. However, each of these tools needs to be reviewed and modified to fit an employer’s own processes. Click below on each image to download the file.
